We often have customers asking us whether termites are still active during Winter on the Gold Coast.
The answer is a very definite “YES”. As termite colonies can live for over 50 years they do not go away at any time of the year, however, they are less active in the winter.
Termites are social insects (a bit like bees) as they have a king and queen as well as work termites which cause most of the damage to homes and even soldier termites whose function is to protect the nest from invaders like black ants.
The most active time of the year is spring and summer but during the winter termites are still foraging for food. If they are already present in the house their damage continues in the colder months and in fact many homes are first attacked during the winter.
Therefore it is not advisable, especially on the Gold Coast, to think that there can be no property loss at this time of the year. The first step to protecting your house is to arrange to have a termite inspection. The electronic equipment that is used during the inspections is designed to detect their activity even through walls and other obstructed areas of the building.
If you would like us to carry out an inspection please call All Care Pest Control on 5574 0269 or 0412 142 340 and we will make an appointment at a time that suits you. Generally the inspection will take between one and a half and 2 hours and a written report will be issued afterwards which you can keep as a reference for the future.
